Beautiful kettle! All true Heavy metal, compare to my other cheap light weighted one. I tried it on stove to boil water n tea, works great! Except handle with cautious!!! Will get hot all around, I use my oven mat to pick up and open the lid. The lid is very tight in. Will buy again.UPDATE: I had use my kettle a couple of times to boil my herb medicine, the size kettle 30oz don’t overflow while boiling. I set the kettle handle off to the side of the stove so it’s not in direct heating, handle will be just warm to touch. I’m loving it!Muy buen articulo, como es pequeño no cabe en mi estufa de gas, toca calentar el agua en otra jarra y vaciarla en esta para poder utilizarla en la preparacion de mis cafes en la cafetera v60.(NOTE: I have not, and do not intend to, use this product directly on a stove-top to heat water, and therefore cannot speak to its performance in that regard.)I recently replaced my defective 1 L Bonavita gooseneck electric pour-over kettle with the 1.7 L Cuisinart PerfectTemp cordless electric kettle, the Rolls-Royce of electric tea kettles for variable temperature control. However, this product replacement left me without a gooseneck kettle to make my pour-over coffee in my 3-cup/16 oz. Chemex (whereas my fiancée and I drink a serious quantity of tea, I am the only coffee-drinker). Naturally, I was in no hurry to purchase another expensive electric kettle, leading me to seek a more affordable solution. At the same time, I was hesitant due to the proliferation of cheap products on Amazon that look attractive and trendy but turn out to be made of bad materials and function poorly. Fortunately, I can happily say that this little 20-oz. kettle suits my needs perfectly.Whereas this kettle's exterior color appears to be cast-iron black in the display image, the actual product is more of a slightly lighter, dark graphite or gunmetal grey color, which in my opinion is even more attractive. The interior is stainless steel, and the lid fits tight. Its handle fits well in the hand, and although lightweight, the kettle has a little bit of satisfying heft when held.To make my coffee, I deliberately heat water in my Cuisinart electric kettle up to boiling (212 degrees Fahrenheit). As soon as it has come to a boil, I transfer the water from my electric kettle to my mini pour-over kettle. I have tested the temperature of the transferred water several times with both analog and digital thermometers, and, happily, the resulting water consistently reads 198-200 degrees F. immediately after transfer--the ideal temperature for brewing pour-over coffee (this anticipated temperature drop is why I heat the water in the electric kettle all the way to boiling, rather than to its pre-set 200 F. setting). Finally, when performing the actual pour-over, the skinny goose-neck on this small-scale kettle allows me greater control over the flow of water onto my ground beans than I ever had before with my old 1 L Bonavita. Whatever extra water I have leftover in the kettle I use to rinse out my Chemex. An all-around great value for the price.I use the 20 oz model to make single serving pour over coffee. I heat the water up in a separate electric kettle and pour the boiling water into this product. Literally my only complaint is the handle gets very hot. I can use it without protection and at best, it's uncomfortable to hold. At worst (if I'm holding the handle too close to the bottom) it burns me and I have to put it down and readjust my grip.My take is this: the kettle works just fine and for the price, it's more than suitable. BUT, the process of pour over coffee is meant to be enjoyed and savored (in my opinion) and this kettle's design flaw makes that process not so enjoyable. It's smaller than I thought, but that's on me for not understanding sizes. It has a really controlled pour so I'm able to put the hot water exactly where I need it in my chemex. The style is so cute. I completely am in love.I quite like the kettle, but this one gets really hot, and if you don't have a rag handy, it's impossible to hold it.This kettle is the perfect size for my pour over coffee. I fill it up with hot water from my keurig. I've never used it on the stove top, so idk if you could boil water in it. But mine serves its purpose so I love it! ❤Let me start off by saying, I never have nor will I ever have the intention of putting this kettle on direct heat/ flames.I have been a barista for many years in places varying from starbucks, coffee bean to a many hipstery and mom pop coffee shops. I like my coffee strong and i missed the bloom from my pour over coffee. Wasn’t gonna fork over a fortune just to prove I’m a legit barista and I am only serving myself.Yes, the body of the kettle is gonna get hot, as in a lot of the more top of the line pour over pots will do. That is it’s nature. Just like when baristas steam your milks, that is the territory. I’ve been using it everyday, and the color hasn’t chipped off yet, tho I wouldn’t really care, if it did. The top will get hot. So I guess there could be plastic there but isnt a big deal for me. It’s def more basic in that the water will lose heat and the thing will get hot but the handle does it’s job. I gave it a five star because it’s functional and reminds me of the good old days so I’m biased. Yup. That’s it lol that what you can from this. Ok byeI personally didn't want to spend on a full kettle upgrade whilst experimenting with pour over coffee, so instead I went for this as a half way house and I'm finding that it's doing such a good job that I won't need the kettle upgrade at all. I pre heat this with hot water whilst the kettle pours and then dump the hot water and switch for the freshly boiled water from the main kettle, and the end result is a great cup off coffee (via V60). The capacity is enough to make 2 decent sized cups of coffee, the handle stays cool, the pour control and flow is excellent, and the build quality feels superb.drip kettle is recommended.Size is perfect and the design is simple and neat however, if the kettle becomes hot be careful. Also, I could smell some metallic smell so be thorough when you wash it. Other than that, great.I would recommend pre-heating prior to brewing. Just add boiled water, swirl and spill. Then weigh your water out: heat retention is much better. This decently made little "kettle" works very well for making pour over coffee, the water stream is suitably languid and controllable.I also use this for watering house plants that have limited capacity saucers - no more overflow spillage!Recommended. This product was exactly as in the photographs and it’s really good to take the edge off boiling water so as not to burn coffee, while still keeping the water warm enough to brew the drink.
