I used this product primarily on a cross country Amtrak trip to heat hot water. Amtrak coach seats have two 110V plugs that work great for this product. Just as a caution, I placed the product on the floor when using, in my shoe. It only takes four to five minutes for water to heat up. If I had it on the fold down table, I would hold it, do to the jostling of the train and ride. I actually met on other person that had one. Most common items used for; instant coffee, oatmeal, backpacking meals and mashed potatoes. One note of concern, there is a vent on the top, that releases steam and some heat. It's important to wait until the blue light comes on and let it cool down. As mentioned earlier, on other reviews, it's not real stable, don't overfill it.I have been using this pretty regularly for at least a month and there’s been no issues at all! The light blue one is the one I got so get that one since it seems like the only one that doesn’t break/stop working after a few uses!?I love this. So disappointing.I had high hopes for this one.Heats up water to about the boiling point within a few minutes, and uses about 320 - 330 watts initiall. It was a useful product. The lid isn't waterproof, however.While this doesn't heat up as quickly as my big electric kettle, it is plenty fast. Outside stays cool to touch, and you can use the lid as a cup in a pinch. Stores easily alongside mugs or glassware. BONUS: Temperature control is a nice feature and as accurate as my other kettle. Very happy.Went to a national park. We rented a "rustic" place to stay. No kitchen. We loaded up on oatmeal and ramen. This hot water maker did not take up a lot of space in suitcase and was easy to use.
