I’m pretty happy with this product as it heats seater very quickly. I also like that it automatically shuts off after the water boils. I don’t like the lid and it’s the weak link. It is stiff and doesn’t open smoothly and if it breaks the water kettle will not work.Love this kettle. Heats up water super fast, easy to descale, and I love that it’s clear glass so I know when I need to clean it. I use it every day multiple times a day for tea, my French press, hot chocolate, getting a jump start on boiling water on the stove, whatever I need hot water for. This is my third one of this brand - one got broken in a move and one finally gave up the ghost after about 8 years of constant use. But I like it that much that I just keep getting the same one again.Wish the measurement mark was on either side of the handle as I always hold it in my left hand when I fill it. But it does the job, makes the water hot, and drains all the way when it's done. This my second kettle. First one last 10 years. I love it except this one has a plastic lid that is very stiff. I'm waiting for the hinge to crack. I'm very careful with that but otherwise I couldn't ask for more. Beautiful and very quick to heat. Use it twice a day.Simple, easy to use glass kettle. We bought this as a replacement for an identical model that served us well for 6+ years until the spout chipped. Small footprint and the clear glass body is easy to clean. I like that you can see the water as it boils. Small blue indicator light on the switch tells you when its working, and you hear a click when its done. There are fancier, fussier electric kettles out there, but the aesthetics and simplicity of this glass kettle can’t be beat.I love this product and have had one for years that I use everyday for my hot tea. It finally quit and this isthe replacement. When you turn the unit on, the light is barely visible, in fact I thought I had a faultycarafe and ordered another one. Guess what, its the same. Beware but enjoy the pot otherwise. My original 2006 review is below. There are helpful comments, including my own comment in 2010 (hinge broke, bought another one) and 2012 (hinge broke after 18 mo, bought another one). My current kettle's hinge just broke - so that one lasted almost exactly 3 years. This one had minor buckling of the silver foil on the lid (near the spout) and on the handle (I went to check, I never noticed it). I keep the glass and silver heating element clean and shiny with vinegar (as in the product manual). By the way, I've never had a problem with unpleasant taste or smell, and I've never had the heating element fail. I just looked around for another brand of glass water kettle that might bring me as much joy as this one does, and I can't find one. I think the hinge lasts longer if you know it is delicate, and pay attention not to open it too far. The foil on the lid lasts longer if you are careful to open the lid enough so that the steam isn't repeatedly flowing over it. In the end, this kettle is so beautiful on my counter that I will accept its limited lifespan (like a delicate wine glass).I'm surprised, though, that Capresso doesn't care about the repeated one-star reviews, many of which complain about the cheap plastic hinge and the peeling shiny lid. I give whomever designed this an A+++ (for beauty) and an F for durability.2006 review: My biggest rave is the Amazon.com customer service. I fell in love with the look of this kettle and found the best price on Amazon.com (with free shipping!) When it arrived, it only worked if the kettle was oriented one way on the base -- when it boiled, the water dribbled on the cord. Called Capresso Cust Svc -- 1st person said, it's supposed to do that. After another week, it got worse. Capresso would replace it if I paid it's shipping back to them. Called Amazon.com, got another in the mail days later, post-paid shipping back the first one to them. Wow! This kettle works just fine. Very rapid boiling of water, no complaints about anything. To keep the glass and that silver dome shiny, you do need to do the vinegar thing every now and again. Couldn't be happier. This elegant kettle replaced a larger electric kettle. With the smaller size it allows me to pour without hurting my wrist. It boils super fast. Only difference and not necessarily bad is that if you pick it up mid boil to not have it too hot (my sister!!), when you place it back on the base, it continues to boil... so you may have to manually shut it off. Otherwise I love this beautiful kettle!Very bad quality,we used it ones and for some reason it did not function probably and did not boiled a water at all,I contact amazon for help they said I need to send it back to the company send it to us from japan which by Royal Mail it's cost £75 postage,I would not recommend it to anyone at all just waste of money.Giving 3 stars - for design and performance all 3, taking 2 stars off because of a strong plastic smell that was mentioned in some other reviews... Just taste the water alone after you boiled it, it is a "plastic tea"...... Did the vinegar boil, tried the baking soda over and over but so far it still has a plastic odor.. . I realized it is the lid that smells, so I leave it open while boiling the water, NEVER UNSUPERVISED since it won't shut down from boiling by itself this way...I also leave the kettle open all day to allow air circulation hoping it will diminish the odor.. .. So far couple of weeks later, the odor it's still there....still waitingThis kettle worked well. However, exactly one year after purchasing it, it "died". The warranty is for one year. We contacted the company, and they refused to repair or replace it. It was not over-used nor abused in any way. A huge disappointment, when a "$19.99 plastic kettle" lasts 5 years and longer! I would not recommend this product. It’s a nice kettle, just the right size for small kitchens.Very easy to cleanLightweight and attractive
